Advocacy of PlayToday, November 20th, World Children’s Rights Day!

20 November 2023by Toyi

Playing is one of the most natural needs and a fundamental right protected by laws, such as a child’s right to nutrition, health, shelter, and education. Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child secures the right to play for children. The right to play enables children to develop healthily, express their creativity freely, and explore adventures around the world. Through play, children push boundaries, nurture their imaginations, and enhance social skills while playing together. Therefore, we highly value the mission of safeguarding and empowering the right to play to support children’s development.

As Toyi, since 2018, we have been reaching children with play experiences designed to support their right to play. Collaborating with non-governmental organizations in different regions worldwide, we distribute Toyi play kits to children affected by crises and disasters. Our play kits not only offer a creative play experience but also support children in developing their creativity, problem-solving skills, and resilience. We manage these efforts with a commitment to transparency and proudly sharing this process with our supporters!

Our belief at Toyi is that everyone can contribute to supporting children’s right to play in unique ways. We call those who find their own methods to support the right to play for children “Play Advocates.” Whether it’s a teacher encouraging play in schools, an aunt dedicating time to play with her nieces and nephews, or a parent opposing gender discrimination in the toy industry, each person has a compelling reason to be a Play Advocate in our view.

We invite everyone who believes in every child’s right to play, embraces this right, and wants to be part of the solution to become a Play Advocate. Let’s collectively transform the world into a playground for children!
